Objetivo: Describir un caso clínico de maculopatía intermedia paracentral aguda asociada a asas vasculares prepapilares de origen venoso.
Caso clínico: Mujer de 42 años que acude por presentar un escotoma paracentral inferior del ojo derecho con agudeza visual de 20/25. En la exploración física se observan asas venosas prepapilares. Tanto en los estudios de imagen multimodal como en la tomografía de coherencia óptica se identifica el sitio del área afectada de la mácula, con atrofia focal de la retina a expensas de la capa nuclear interna.
Conclusión: La maculopatía intermedia paracentral aguda puede ser secundaria a diversas alteraciones de la vasculatura retiniana. Hasta el conocimiento de los autores, no existen reportes previos que describan la asociación entre una maculopatía intermedia paracentral aguda y asas vasculares prepapilares.
